Actress Rachel Weisz has joked that she’s only able to think of Colin Farrell as his chubby character David in their movie, The Lobster.
The British star had never met Colin before his role in the movie, where he was required to put on some weight.
The pair starred alongside each other throughout the unconventional love story, and it appears Colin’s new look made an impression on the actress.
Speaking on the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival last night, she said, “I’d never met Colin before. I met him when he had the increased weight and his face and his jawline were like doughy flesh – he’ll always be David to me.”
Colin didn’t enjoy the process of gaining weight at all, and even tried to bargain with director Yorgos Lanthimos to avoid having to pile on the pounds.
He told reporters, “It wasn’t really a joy because you’re just eating for eight weeks. I didn’t want to put on weight because I didn’t want to work to lose it so I was saying to Yorgos, ‘What about if he’s really thin?’ Because I did want to alter my physicality somewhat.”
