Top Irish chef Rachel Allen has been tipped to replace the legendary Mary Berry on the revamped version of The Great British Bake Off.
The popular baking show is undergoing an overhaul before the next series begins and one of the most talked about changes has been who will replace Mary Berry – and it seems the lovely Rachel could be a front runner for the coveted position!
The 44-year-old reportedly attended a screen test alongside a number of renowned chefs in London earlier this week.
Rachel was spotted attending what seemed to be an audition for the programme, but Channel 4 have declined to comment on the meeting.
VIP contacted Rachel to confirm or deny the rumours and she responded saying, “Sorry, no comment.”
If the speculation is true, the Ballymaloe chef will be one busy lady, as she’s about to open her first restaurant with husband Isaac.
Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine about her exciting new career venture Rachel said, ” I will be in the kitchen and out front. As will Isaac.
“We have a really great team on board, including Isaac’s cousin and a great girl who trained with us at Ballymaloe years ago.
“I will still work at the cookery school as well. I’ll just need a very fast mode of transport to get around.”
Regardless as to whether the rumours are true or not – Rachel has more than enough to keep her occupied this coming year!
