We sat down with First Dates’ Maitre d’ Mateo Saina so he could give us the lowdown on his perfect date night!
And safe to say it’s romantic!
Mateo, tell us about your first date with your wife?
We went for a dinner in a nice restaurant beside the sea and then we had magical sex and never looked back!
What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done?
I cleaned the toilets last week without her giving out, took the kids for a day of fun and cooked when I got home…that’s romance for you when you have two small kids! I don’t remember anything past last week because I have the memory of a goldfish!
Are you a couple type of person? When you were younger did you enjoy being in a relationship?
I always had relationships, I’ve never been a one night stand lad.
Tell us about your worst date ever (not with your wife, obviously!)?
Once I went for a date and she arrived with two friends…I paid for their drinks and left.
Where’s your favourite place to go on a date?
If I go out with my lady, it’s a restaurant.
Having watched so many couples dine together, what do you think is the best thing to eat, without embarrassment?
Eat what you want, there are no dos or don’ts.
For readers who are single/divorced/widowed, what’s your advice for getting back out there?
You are not going to find any love by sitting at home, feeling sorry for yourself – just do it!
