Ever wanted to know more about your favourite celeb? We’ve been catching up with some of the biggest names in Irish showbiz to discover their hidden quirks and close-kept secrets. From pet peeves to bucket list dreams, we find out all there is to know about some very famous faces!

This week, we sit down with the lovely Dermot Bannon.

Summer holidays or Christmas break?
Christmas break. It’s the only time of the year when the whole country closes down. I love the fire, the tv, a couple of pints and eating ham every time I go to the fridge. I’ve often eaten more ham preparing the food than at my actual dinner!

Dinner in or dinner out?
I love a nice dinner in. I love making a big pot of something and plonking it on the table with a couple of friends around.

Donald Trump or Boris Johnson?
I think they’re both incredibly destructive individuals. If anything, I think Boris is slightly more destructive. I think there’s something odd about that man. There’s an ego driving that. I don’t know whose interests he has at heart. Whereas Trump is transparent but with Boris, I don’t understand his rationale for doing things.

Cat or dog?
I know my kids would love a dog but I’m going to wait until we’re in the new house six months – I don’t want poo everywhere – yet.

Boxsets or podcasts?
Netflix. But I never get a chance. Actually that’s what I dream about getting into: a good boxset to lose myself in.

Sweet or savoury?
I love all food. Food is my thing. But I suppose, sweet. I’m a chocoholic.

Last supper?
It would probably be something really dirty, like a burger or a pizza. And chips, all the types of chips!

Your dream job? You’re doing it, no?
I am but there’s lots of other things I’d like to try. I’m a maker, I love making things. I’m dying now to make some window seats for my house. I made our first kitchen and learned routing, and all that. I don’t know if I’m good at it, but I love it. I’d also love to be an artist.

Life is….
…people. Stuff only brings us so much happiness. A home isn’t a home unless it’s filled with family and friends. I’ve seen people incredibly happy in tiny dysfunctional houses because they have the right people around the table. I’ve also seen people with the most beautiful homes, miserable, because they’ve lost track of what’s really important because this constant chase for stuff doesn’t fill the hole in your soul. Laughter, family and a bit of craic, that is, what life is.
