Ever wanted to know more about your favourite celeb? We’ve been catching up with some of the biggest names in Irish showbiz to discover their hidden quirks and close-kept secrets. From pet peeves to bucket list dreams, we find out all there is to know about some very famous faces!

This week, we sit down with the legendary Christy Dignam who tells us crazy fan stories, the best advice he’s ever received and who is the most famous person in his phone book.

What tv boxset are you hooked on right now?
Peaky Blinders – Cillian Murphy is brilliant in his role as Thomas Shelby.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Being in a band means late nights, so I’m definitely not a morning person.

Favourite word?
Boll*x!

Last book you read?
My own book My Crazy World as I had to proof read it before it was released!

Most famous person in your phonebook?
Bono. I recently had to contact him to ask would he write the forward for my book which he agreed to do. Great singer too!

What’s your signature dance move?
I’m not really a dancer – I don’t do dance moves!

Biggest pet peeve?
I breed native birds in an aviary I have in my back garden – does that count as a pet peeve!?

Craziest fan story?
Lots of people pretend they are related to me to try to get backstage and when I go out to see them I don’t have a clue who they are.

What was your last dream you remember?
I dreamt that I had written the most amazing song but when I woke up I could not remember how it went!

Favourite joke?
What’s brown and sticky? A stick! [laughs]

The last song that was stuck in your head?
The one we are writing at the moment. It’s a brilliant song and we can’t wait to release it.

Your most beloved album?
David Bowie, The Rise And fall of Ziggy Stardust.

What’s your ultimate comfort food?
Chinese.

What’s the dish you make to impress people?
Spaghetti Bolognese.

If you could have three people over to your house, who would they be?
David Bowie, Muhammad Ali and Mick Jagger.

What’s your fondest memory?
Meeting my wife Catherine for the first time.

Who gave you your best advice – and what was it?
We were smoking a joint thinking we were really cool in The Columbia Hotel and Noddy Holder from Slade was there. I asked him did he want some and he said, “I never touch the stuff and I advise you to do the same.”

Who do you call for a good rant?
Denise, our manager.

Who do you turn to when you need a good laugh?
Billy, he’s the joker in the band

What’s your biggest fear?
That this cancer I have will get me sooner than I want.

What’s your best and worst trait?
I try to pass on all I’ve learnt about music to people in the music business and my worst is I just cannot say NO.

Do you have a bucket list?
I’d love the band to do some gigs in Japan. I’ve always wanted to visit there.
