Laura Whitmore has responded to the criticism Sunday night’s Love Island Reunion received.
After the show aired, many viewers admitted that they were left feeling disappointed, taking to social media to brand the reunion ‘awkward’ and ‘boring’.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the presenter set out to clear up any misunderstandings viewers had of the show.
First addressing the ‘invasive’ questions she asked, Laura shared that each contestant is aware of the questions that they will be asked beforehand, with no one being forced to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing.
“I insist everyone sees the questions before they go on air and are ok with it. I believe in choice, so nothing is ever asked without permission,” Laura said.
She then went on to address the reason why some viewers found the show ‘awkward’, sharing that this was the first year contestants were not served alcohol.
“Unlike previous years, the Islanders weren’t allowed alcohol. Please remember they are just regular people who were nervous on live telly. I’m sure some would have loved a drink for the nerves!”
“I, however, had a large glass of wine before the show – having spent the last two series of Celeb Juice not drinking, I owed it to myself.”
Laura also addressed the rumours that Kaz was not invited to sit on the couch like other finalists, sharing:
Finally, Laura concluded her stories by saying: “If I see anyone giving s**t to our Islanders I will call you out”
