Summer’s here, the sun is shining and it would almost be a sin not to break out the barbecue.
No stranger to some summer cooking, Yvonne Connolly has shared some of her top tips for creating the perfect outdoor meal.
“To crack out the barbecue, buy a thermometer. I think we all, when we’re not doing a barbecue and we’re cooking inside, as Irish people we tend to overcook things a lot, so buying a thermometer,” she told VIP Magazine at today’s Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps breakfast cook-off.
“Honestly, you wouldn’t realise how soon you can take food out of the oven. It’s life-changing.”
Another barbecue tip? Don’t feel the fear, just do it!
“With the barbecue everyone’s fear is that you’re going to eat something raw so it just takes all the fear out of cooking by using a thermometer I think.”
Yvonne, a self-confessed sunshine addict, admits she’s happiest when chasing the good weather and chilling outdoors with her nearest and dearest.
“My favourite place to be is just in the sunshine, I don’t mind where I am,” Yvonne said.
“I think being Irish I just crave it. John always says when I’m in the sun I just have a big smile on my face all the time. So I love that.”
The summer vibes are really kicking in now!
