Pippa O’Connor has set the record straight about making money from blogging, claiming that the rumours of people being given huge amounts of money for one sponsored piece is “complete bull.”
The model and beauty/fashion blogger has responded to reports that some online influencers can earn up to €800 for a social media post, saying she doesn’t think it’s true at all.
Speaking to The Herald, Pippa said, “I don’t believe that. I don’t know about everyone else, but that’s not how I do things. It’s all exaggerated. By no means are bloggers absolutely loaded.”
Despite having a massive following across all her social media platforms as well as her website, she said that regardless of ongoing offers, endorsing products isn’t something that she’s very keen on.
“I’m contacted all the time and I am offered, ‘Oh will you post this for X amount?’ and I’m like, ‘That’s not really what I want to do.’”
She revealed that if she was to make money from sponsored posts, she’d want to make sure things were done right – not just a random tweet here and there.
“I want to work with brands and do campaigns and do things properly. I think if you’re flogging yourself out for a few hundred euros here and there, it looks cheap and you won’t have any longevity.
“So I don’t do anything like that, because I don’t think it’s worth it in the long run.”
She added: “I wouldn’t diss anyone doing that either, because everyone has to make money, so I can totally understand if the opportunities are there, but I kind of do my own thing, so I don’t know what anyone else is going, or what anyone else is charging or getting.”
