Pierce Brosnan pays tribute to the late Sean Connery: “You were loved by the world, and will be missed”

The sad news broke yesterday that actor and James Bond legend, Sean Connery had passed away at the age of 90.

Tributes have been pouring out on social media this weekend, including one from fellow Bond, Pierce Brosnan.

Connery was the first to play the iconic character on the big screen from 1962 to 1983 and starred in seven of the films including some cult classics like Dr. No and Diamonds Are Forever.

Pierce took over as Bond in 1995 until 2002, and was in four films; GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day.

He shared an emotional tribute to the actor on Instagram this weekend; “Sir Sean Connery, you were my greatest James Bond as a boy, and as a man who became James Bond himself.”

“You cast a long shadow of cinematic splendour that will live on forever. You led the way for us all who followed in your iconic foot steps.”

“Each man in his turn looked to you with reverence and admiration as we forged ahead with our own interpretations of the role. You were mighty in every way, as an actor and as a man, and will remain so till the end of time.”

“You were loved by the world, and will be missed. God bless, rest now, be at peace.”
