Pierce Brosnan has opened up about the untimely deaths of his wife Cassandra and daughter Charlotte to ovarian cancer.
The 63-year-old was married for Cassandra Harris for 11 years and have a son together called Sean. Pierce also officially adopted her two children Charlotte and Christopher.
Cassandra passed away in 1991 after battling cancer, and Charlotte sadly lost her life to the same disease as her mum in 2013.
Speaking to Esquire of the difficult years Meath native Pierce admitted that his faith helped him “survive the pain,” but he still had his tough days.
“The dark, melancholy Irish black dog sits beside me from time to time. I don’t look at the cup as half full, believe me.
“That’s all you have left (faith) when your heart is just a dark hole at four in the morning and you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. No one can escape life’s pain. That’s life,” he said.
The actor is now married to Keely Shaye Smith, and they have two sons together, Dylan and Paris.
