Hollywood is officially getting a Dublin calling!
Yes, Paul Rudd is heading to the capital after being named this year’s recipient of the Dublin International Film Festival’s most prestigious honour, the Volta Award.
The honour is the festival’s highest accolade and is named after the Volta Cinematograph, Ireland’s first dedicated cinema, founded in 1909 by James Joyce.
The award itself recognises individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to film and screen culture, and the alumni list is seriously impressive.

Previous recipients include Ed Harris, Jessica Lange, Steve McQueen and Isabelle Huppert, along with cinematic royalty like Al Pacino, Julie Andrews and Daniel Day-Lewis.
Now Paul Rudd joins that glittering lineage, which feels both completely right and somehow still surreal.
With a career spanning more than three decades, he has become one of contemporary cinema’s most beloved and versatile performers, moving effortlessly between comedy, drama and blockbuster territory.

This will not only mark the film’s world premiere but also represent a historic first for the theatre, which has never before hosted a motion picture premiere.
The story follows Rick (Paul Rudd), a past-his-prime wedding singer, who crosses paths with Danny (Nick Jonas), a fading boyband star, during a gig.
“Paul’s remarkable versatility, charisma and enduring appeal have made him one of the most beloved performers of his generation, seamlessly moving between independent film, comedy and global blockbusters,” noted Festival Director Gráinne Humphreys.
Safe to say, Dublin is in for a seriously starry night!
