Paul Mescal has made it to the big leagues, and is brushing shoulders with plenty of stars. Meeting the likes of Zendaya, Saoirse Ronan, and countless other celebs.
But just because the Kildare man is a bonafide Hollywood star, doesn’t mean those interactions always go well. As was the case when Paul met Nicole Kidman…in pretty awkward attire.
Opening up about his run-in with the Oscar winning on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Paul revealed she stopped by to see his performance in A Street Car Named Desire on the West End. But Nicole did just watch the show, but also came back stage wanting to say hello. The only problem being that Paul was getting changed.
“I didn’t know she was in and then she came backstage. I was sharing a dressing room with Ralph [Davis] and Eduardo [Ackerman] and we’re getting changed and wearing our underwear and . . . I’m not even lying, this happened . . . we hear a knock on the door,” he began.

Continuing: “We thought it was the stage manager or something, and I go to open the door and it’s Nicole Kidman. I’m standing there in, like, sweaty underwear!”
So what did he do? Change? Put trousers on? Cover up with a towel? Nope! Instead Paul just chatted away in his unmentionables.
“You think the next smart step is like ‘put on some trousers’, but there’s something incredibly undignified about the act of, you know, it’s not like a look you want to be caught in, bent over,” he explained.
“So then you kind of half pull on your trousers and you’re chatting about the play and you hug and are like, ‘thanks for coming’. The door shuts and you’re just turning to each other like, ‘what the hell just happened?'”

The Normal People star also opened up about his Oscar nomination, revealing who will be his date in the big night.
Sharing how his mammy will be his plus one. “My mother is one of the most spectacular women in the world,” he gushed.
