Paul Mescal is currently brushing shoulders with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, as he prepares for the Oscars this weekend.
But no star was more important than his Aftersun co-star Frankie Corio.
While they were filming in Turkey, Frankie celebrated her birthday, and so Paul organised a special surprise for the big day.
The Maynooth man colluded with popstar Olivia Rodrigo to get a special message for Frankie. Olivia has enjoyed wild success since her debut album Sour, with hits such as Drivers License, Brutal, Deja Vu, and Good For You.
Frankie is a massive fan of the singer and so Paul got Olivia to send her a birthday message.
In the newly-shared video, posted by Frankie’s mum, Paul explains to Frankie: “I have a surprise for you,” before passing her the phone. At which point, Frankie absolutely freaks out with excitment.
Paul, then, clues Frankie’s mum in on what all the fuss is about, saying: “It’s Olivia Rodrigo. We’re always singing her songs.”
Olivia can be heard saying: “Hey Frankie! It’s Olivia. I heard it was your birthday, and so I wanted to come and say hello. I hope you have the best day ever. I hope you eat lots of cake and open lots of presents, and I hope I get to meet you real soon. I hope this was the best year yet.”

Paul is currently preparing for the Oscars, with plenty of pre-show events. But the actors has some pretty great plus-ones by his side, as he reunited with his entire family this week in the run-up to the awards.
His parents, Dearbhla and Paul, flew over to the States this week alongside sister Nell from Ireland. Meanwhile, his brother Donnacha is based in America.
Clearly, Paul was delighted to see both of his younger siblings as they walked the red carpet together at the Vanity Fair Oscars party on Wednesday night.
The annual soiree, Night for Young Hollywood bash was held at Mes Amis in Los Angeles.
