Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any weirder, we’re now having virtual awards ceremonies. Last night was the annual TV BAFTA’s and instead of the glamorous event we’re used to seeing, this year actors accepted their awards from home via video link.
The hilarious Richard Ayoade hosted the show live from a London studio, but he wasn’t totally alone. A few guest appearances were allowed to present awards including none other than Paul Mescal and Daisy-Edgar Jones.
The internet almost exploded last night at the sight of the Normal People stars reunited in person and Paul also brought his measuring tape to make sure the pair were exactly two metres apart which we imagine is quite difficult to do when around him…
Daisy wore a strappy black Miu Miu gown covered in embellishment with a scalloped hem and revealed that it was “so lovely to wear something other than slippers!”
Paul looked incredibly dapper in a grey Dior suit with a crisp white T, white trainers and Cartier accessories and seemed more than happy to be back with his co-star saying; “So happy to see my pal again!”
And if you’re wondering why Normal People wasn’t up for any awards? Unfortunately the show wasn’t aired in time to be eligible for this years ceremony, which seems slightly mad as it’s easily been the show of 2020.
Something tells us we’ll be seeing these two back on the BAFTA red carpet next year…
