Patrick Kielty may be off Late Late Show hosting duties for the summer but that doesn’t mean he’s in any way shape or form enjoying his summer thanks to his new health battle.

Yes, wife Cat Deeley has revealed that the presenter is unfortunately suffering from a case of shingles after initially misdiagnosing himself with an injury as a result of home renovations.

Speaking about shingles to her co-star Ben Shephard on This Morning, Cat shared how Patrick had initially “no idea” that he had contracted the infection and at first, thought that he got fibreglass in his face after doing some construction work in the house.

“He thought he’d touched his face,” she said in reference to Patrick and the fibreglass.

“He’d got this burning, tingling, stinging sensation, so that’s what he thought it was.”

As it turns out, Patrick wasn’t imagining things, but rather just the wrong things…if that makes sense.

Doctor Sara Kayat then explained the symptoms to look out for if you think you could be suffering from something similar.

“Firstly you tend to get this tingly, burning sensation. You may also notice you’re feeling more fatigued – you’ve got a headache, you’re tired.

“You might even have a bit of a temperature,” she added.

“A few days later you can start to develop a blotchy rash and then that develops into fluid-filled blisters, which start to crust over and scab away.”

Dr Sara went on to say that a rash can show up anywhere on the body, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Poor Patrick! We wish him a speedy recovery.
