The Late Late Show only made it’s grand return last week, but they are already looking to future episodes, as Patrick Kielty announced the return of a fan favourite special, which will be arriving sooner than usual.
In the midst of his second ever episode on hosting duties, Patrick revealed that The Late Late Show’s Country Special will be returning.
The special episode dedicated to Irish country music will be back on our screens in just two weeks, which is much earlier in the season than it typically airs.
Sharing the good news with viewers, the Down native donned a stetson, and shared a message from country music superstar Shania Twain.
The Canadian songstress was performing in Dublin during the week, and so of course it was the perfect time to announce the Country Special.
In a video, Shania said: “Hey it’s Shania Twain and I want to wish Patrick and all the artists the very best for his first Late Late Country Special on October 6th.”
“I know it’s going to be a lot of fun so make sure you tune in.”
With Patrick replying: “There you go, that is my pal Shania Twain.”
Elsewhere during the show, Patrick was joined by Vogue Williams, James Nesbitt, Ciara Mageean and Baz Ashmawy.
Vogue chatted about working with her husband Spencer Matthews and pal Joanne McNally, as well as her family life in London. Baz opened up about his latest project, an Irish game show called The Money List, and looked back on his Emmy win in 2015 for 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy.
James opened up about his time in Queen’s University and identity in Northern Ireland. While Ciara shared her Olympic asperations and intense athletic schedule.
Patrick also chatted to rugby legends Alan Quinlan & Shane Byrne, who joked about their past feud and shared their predictions for Ireland’s match against South Africa this weekend. With Shane backing Ireland, and Alan betting on The Springboks.
Finally Dr Tony Holohan spoke about losing his late wife Dr Emer Holohan & managing Ireland’s Covid-19 crisis, and discussed his new partner Ciara Cronin and his late wife’s wish that he’d find happiness with someone else.
