Patrick Kielty and wife Cat Deeley are an A-list couple, both having their own successful careers in the entertainment industry. So much so, the pair made the move to Los Angeles, California, the epicenter of American entertainment.
But after 15 years in the City of Angels, the couple return to Cat’s native England in 2020, settling in North London.
Explaining their return, the County Down native confessed it was a decision based around their growing family.
“What was weird about it was, it was Cat who wanted to do that, it was more her decision because of being a young mum and not having the family around and not having that network of cousins and brothers and all of that,” he said on the Mid-Point Podcast.
The couple welcomed their first son Milo in 2016, and their second little boy James in 2018.
However, while the family has set up a base in London, the proud Dundrum man will always consider The Mourne County to be his home.
As he said: “For me, somewhere like London is not home, London’s never really going to be home for me – in my head I still live in a little village in Co Down, even though I haven’t lived there full-time for 30 years.”
“Living in London, my family was always a flight away anyway so that idea of it being a longer flight from LA wasn’t as much of a problem for me.”

The comedian admitted they had no regrets about leaving America, saying: “I also think because Cat was the one with the successful career out there, she was the one that chose that she wanted to leave that, at that right time. That’s a decision that she made and only she can make, and it’s your job to support that decision.”
While Cat might be based in London, she is still balancing her trans-Atlantic career. Acting as the host of US reality shows, So You Think You Can Dance and the upcoming revival of The Joe Schmo Show.
The couple married in 2012 during a private ceremony in Rome. They first met in 2002 while they co-hosted Fame Academy, although they only began seeing each other many years later.
Patrick is set to take over as host of The Late Late Show in just a few weeks.
