How to prepare for Valentine’s day
Why not kickstart Valentine’s day off with some self-pampering beforehand?
Booking a nail appointment can change anyone’s mood and make you feel that small bit better about yourself. Whether it’s a simple manicure or a Valentine-themed design, having your nails done will always give an extra glow.
The night before why not rewind with a hot bubble bath, some candles and your favourite rom-com? There are many rom-coms available on Netflix, from the brand new flick Your Place or Mine or why not go back to a classic like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days which turns 20 this year.

Celebrating Valentine’s can be done by simply watching a sunrise or a sunset. Why not take to some of Ireland’s hidden beaches or lakes? If you fancy seeing one of the best sunrises, take a trip to The Vico Baths early in the morning, this is the perfect way to start Valentine’s day.
You could even bring a picnic and just take in the sunrise with a loved one. This is a simple yet effective way of pampering yourself and your loved ones, with fresh air and a beautiful view.
Another breathtaking location in Ireland to visit on Valentine’s day is A Lover’s Lake, Co Wicklow. With a stunning heart-shaped lough, Lover’s Lake is just perfect for a romantic walk with the ultimate reward at the end. While the walk to Lough Ouler is 8.5KM it is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors and a challenge!

The perfect date night does exist, why not book a romantic meal for two or for you and your friends? There are many restaurants around Ireland that will be offering Valentine’s day menus, and if you can’t make it because of work some restaurants will be offering these deals through to the weekend.
Some of the restaurants offering deals are, The Ivy, Sophie’s Rooftop and Pickle, which are based in Dublin. Check out your local restaurant’s websites or give them a call for some Valentine’s packages.
A luxurious one night getaway
Why not take advantage of Valentine’s day and plan a little night away? There are many hotels around Ireland offering Mid-Week packages and Weekend packages for Valentine’s Day.
Why not take a trip to Ireland’s Hidden Heartland, and spend a relaxing 24 hours or more in one of the many hotels in the Midlands.
You could try out Wineport Lodge which was home to The Restaurant TV series, which has seen many Irish Celebrities competing to impress by cooking a three-course meal. Wineport Lodge is situated on Lough Ree, which is also home to one of the most perfect sunsets in the heart of the country.
Stay in and relax
If you don’t fancy going out for dinner, why not order a takeaway or cook something?
There are many different recipes online and ideas for cocktails to make at home.
You could also make a delicious Pink Gin Sour, or enjoy a nice bottle of prosecco with your loved one! To make it even more romantic why not make some chocolate cover strawberries together?
