If River Island’s new Autumn/Winter 2015 collection is anything to go by, the sixties/seventies relaxed boho vibe is here to stay. The highstreet masterminds have given us an insight into what’s to come and you can anticipate a bold and sophisticated season ahead.
Think the return of statement faux fur pieces, a lot of suede and a lot of leather. Bell bottom flares, printed minis, sleeveless jackets and graphic colour blocking.
The womenswear offerings centre around five collections: 70’s Luke, 70’s Modern Bohemian, 70’s Glam Rock, Urbanist and Francoise 60s.
In 70’s Luxe you can expect some clean tailoring, masculine suits and a lot of soft caramels. The key shape for trousers is culottes and this is where you’ll mostly find the presence of colour blocking.
70’s Modern Boho is slightly more gothic and vampy, It’s that small bit more daring. Think lace, think black-on-black, fringing leather and soft suede.
70’s glam rock is bringing with it the return of metallics, plunging necklines, skinny scarves and velvet.
Next up we have Urbanist: think long elongated silhouettes and a lot of sleeveless jackets. Pencil skirt co-ords and laid back modern.
Francoise 60’s is tough but cute – Parisian street style with a bit more of an edge. Mini skirts, quirky tights and elements of fur are major condenders in this collection.
We may only be half way through summer, but VIP Towers has definitely got our eye on these pieces as soon as they hit the shops in autumn.
