RTE’s Operation Transformation returned to our screens last week with their tenth series.
Unfortunately however, it wasn’t a great start as the show suffered a major drop in audience numbers for their first two episodes of the season. The average viewership for the start of the series was 410,000, which is a drop of 80,000 from last year.
Although this is a significant number, the weight loss programme still manages to draw in an audience of half a million, even after being on air for such a long time.
Operation Transformation also helps thousands of people around the country to lead healthier lives, with their Nationwide Walks, the Ad Break Challenge and their online diet and exercise regimes.
A spokesperson for RTE told the Herald that bosses are pleased with the figures, and with the success of their health plans.
“We are very happy with the ratings for Operation Transformation. Generating audiences of more than 400,000 in the 10th series is proof of its continuing popularity. In addition, there were 14,000 viewers on RTE Player.
“The series continues to motivate people around the country. Thousands took part in 78 Operation Transformation Nationwide Walks on Saturday,” the spokesperson said.
You can catch Operation Transformation tomorrow night at 8:30pm on RTE One.
