Legendary tv presenter Noel Edmonds has criticised RTE for cutting out a segment of his appearance on The Ray D’Arcy Show, in which he spoke about the banking crisis.
The I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant appeared on the RTE chat show last week, and spoke about his own experiences with banks as well as the Irish banking crisis.
However, when the show was uploaded to RTE’s online streaming service, his comments about Lloyd’s bank had been left out – and the star has now responded to what he call ‘censorship.’
“We talked about a lot of things, I had a very warm welcome,” the 70-year-old said in a Facebook video.
“We got on to the subject of bankers, and Lloyds banks specifically and when the show appeared on the RTE player, my whole section had been removed but it was reinstated today the 24th minus the reference to the banks.
“Well quite rightly, thousands of people in Ireland are up in arms – just have a look on social media. People are genuinely angry about censorship.
“How much control do these bankers have over our media? Quite clearly a lot.
“I’m pleased to see on Twitter somebody has got the actual recording.
“And when you look at the bit that was missing from the original player piece, you will see the reaction of the studio audience was 100 per cent positive.”
