Nicola Coughlan is the latest star choosing to disconnect from the digital noise.
The Bridgerton actress has revealed she’s stepped away from social media apps on her phone, citing the toll of online negativity.
Rather than quitting entirely, Nicola now treats platforms as strictly professional tools, downloading them only when necessary.
Speaking ahead of the premiere of The Magic Faraway Tree, she explained that she installs apps briefly to share updates before deleting them again, admitting the experience can have a “really negative impact” on her wellbeing.

Nicola has since said she finds it frustrating that so much of the narrative around the show focused on her appearance rather than her performance.
She revealed that after the season dropped, fan interactions often centred on her body, something she found difficult to navigate.
“I remember this really drunk girl once talking to me in a bathroom being like, ‘I loved [Bridgerton] because of your body.’ And started talking about my body, and I was like, ‘I want to die. I hate this so much…” she said.

“It’s really hard when you work on something for months of your life, you don’t see your family, you are really dedicated yourself, and then it comes down to what you look like – it’s so f*cking boring.”
It seems Nicola’s stance on the “negative” impact of social media is also shared by her The Magic Faraway Tree co-star Andrew Garfield.
“The more we live through this technological revolution, the more we understand that our consciousness is being hijacked,” he said.
“Our attention, a valuable commodity, is being commodified and is being used and abused by tech companies.”
