Nicola Coughlan has been cast in Sony Pictures’ sports-themed animated feature Goat.
According to Deadline, the original action-comedy set in an all-animal world follows Will, voiced by Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, a small goat living a downbeat life in an urbanised jungle community called Vineland, who is obsessed with roarball, spending every spare minute at the public court practising moves and shooting hoops.
“A high-intensity, co-ed, full-contact sport dominated by the fastest, fiercest animals in the world, roarball takes its cue basketball but with modifications to fit the animal kingdom such as a special perforated hardball, suited to paws and claws, as well as regulations allowing two and four-legged movements,” reads the syposis.
“Will’s big dreams become reality when he gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros and play for his local team, the Thorns.

“His new teammates aren’t thrilled about having a little goat on their roster, but Will is determined to revolutionise the sport and prove once and for all that ‘smalls can ball!’.”
Joining Caleb and Nicola on this exciting project are NBA champion Stephen Curry, Bad Boys II star Gabrielle Union, Big Mouth’s Nick Kroll, Thunderbolts actor David Harbour, Jennifer Lewis (I Love That for You), and Patton Oswalt (We All Scream).
Talk about a starry voice cast!
It is understood that our very own Nicola will play the role of Ostrich Olivia Burke.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Nicola shared a screenshot of the cast announcement along with the caption: “I think I can safely say this is the only time I’ll play a character who is tall and good at sports.”
Other teammates include rhinoceros Archie Everhardt (Harbour), komodo dragon Modo Olachenko (Kroll) and giraffe Lenny Williamson (Curry).
The movie is set to be released on February 13, 2026, in collaboration with the NBA to tie in with NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles running from February 13 to 15.
We can’t wait for this one!
