Nicky Byrne has shared details of a terrifying health scare he went through with his son Jay a number of years ago.
The radio presenter said that the situation occurred when he was minding his twins Rocco and Jay, who are now 10-years-old. He said that the frightening moment was so bad that he feared Jay was going to die in his arms.
Speaking on his 2FM radio show yesterday Nicky said, “Georgina had gone to the CARI charity lunch, which she goes to once a year, with her mum and I was putting them to bed.
“Jay had a temperature when I was getting them changed for bed. I looked at him and thought he didn’t look right so I put Rocco to bed before nursing Jay in the cot.
“He threw his head back in the cot, went purple and his eyes rolled back. I thought the child was dying,” he said.
The former Westlife singer went onto explain that the ordeal was made worse by the fact that his phone died and he had no way to call an ambulance for his little boy.
“My phone was dead so I picked him and ran to the neighbour’s house and there was nobody. I managed to flag down a taxi and he called an ambulance to take us to Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
“It was a febrile convulsion where the child’s temperature gets too high and they can’t control it,” he said.
Thankfully Jay was ok, but this must have been very scary for Nicky.
