Niall Horan has returned to Ireland, and of course, it was no small affair. As the singer played his biggest gig to date, as a headlining act at Electric Picnic.
The Mullingar man took to the stage last night, and wowed the massive crowd of festival-goers.
The audience loved Niall’s performance, including his beautiful tribute to the late Sinéad O’Connor. The Dublin woman tragically passed away in July, at the age of 56. The singer’s family confirmed the sad news of her passing, releasing a statement, reading: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
Niall honoured her legacy by performing her hit song Nothing Compares 2 U, and asking the audience to sing along.

Niall also paid homage to his musical past, performing One Direction’s hit Story Of My Life.
The songwriter joined One Direction in 2010, when the band was formed on The X Factor.
They went on to find global success, before going their separate ways in 2015, but Niall treated fans to some nostalgia with his performance of 1D’s 2013 hit, Story Of My Life, from their album, Midnight Memories.

During his set, Niall also spoke to the crowd about how much the gig meant to him.
Telling the audience: “From Patrick Street in Mullingar to today [at Electric Picnic]. It’s a dream come true, it’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of as a solo artist. I love you all”
He also performed This Town, which was inspired by his hometown of Mullingar.
