Niall Horan has voiced his support for former flame Selena Gomez following her heartfelt speech at the American Music Awards.
Selena stepped away from the spotlight recently as she dealt with mental health issues.
The starlet struggled with anxiety and depression for a number of months, but following treatment, felt like she was ready to return to the music industry, and the public eye.
While accepting her award for Favourite Female Pop/Rock Artist, she said, “I think it’s safe to say most of you know my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop, because I had everything. And I was absolutely broken inside.
“I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down.
“I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore… I have to say thank you so much to my fans, because you guys are so damn loyal, and I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But if you are broken, you do not have to stay broken… this is for you.”
Niall, who apparently dated Selena back in 2014, was touched by her emotional speech, and was on hand to support the singer at the event, as well as afterwards too.
According to E!, the Mullingar man found Selena at the AMAs and told her she “did so good,” before taking to social media to share his thoughts.
He said, “Just watching the back from last night. Really great show. Loved it. Love to Selena for the speech. Brave young woman.”
