New season of Ireland’s Fittest Family is in for a complete shake-up

Fans of Ireland’s Fittest Family are in for quite the surprise as the new season is reportedly set for a complete shake-up.

The hit show is currently filming season 13 ahead of returning to screens in the autumn.

However, according to Anna Geary, who is returning as a coach, things won’t be quite as we remember them.

Teasing what to expect, Anna told RTÉ: “Wait until people find out what’s happening in Ireland’s Fittest Family!

“No, I’m not going to be the person to let the cat out of the bag because I’ll absolutely be taken down by the production team.

“But what I will say is never before has what is about to happen, happened on the show,” she added.

“Let me tell you, as a coach, I was more shocked than anybody. There are big changes, big twists, you’re going to see a changed format, new locations.

“Oh my God! It’s going to completely shake things up.”

Safe to say, we’re intrigued!

Season 12 of Ireland’s Fittest Family was won by the Cummins family from Kilkenny who were coached by hurling legend Davy Fitzgerald.

Reflecting on their victory, Paul, the father of the family, said: “What an unbelievable experience taking part in Ireland’s Fittest Family has been. As individuals, we have had success, representing our country in multiple sports, but to compete with zero expectations except to give it a good go.

“It took a lot of hard work, a lot of teamwork, Davy’s unique motivation and a little luck for us to be crowned Ireland’s Fittest Family (or as I like to call it Ireland’s Fittest ‘Kids and their dad’). Thank you all for this special gift! We still find it hard to believe that that’s exactly what happened.”
