Comedian Neil Delamere has toured all over for his comedy career, performing in some odd places which he opened up about on The Six O’Clock Show. The Blame Game star revealed, “I have had some mad gigs… I have done gigs in prisons. I did a gig at one ‘o clock in the morning at the Edinburgh fringe festival.”
Performing at a prison was certainly a bit different from his usual routine. As he explained; “There’s stuff you can’t do you can’t do travel stories you can’t don MC stuff: ‘Are you a couple? Are you a couple?'”
You can’t really do that sort of stuff but it was good craic it was a different experience.”
While the performance was certainly strange for Neil, it was actually odder for one of his fellow comedians. He explained; “One of the guys who brought us in to do the gig had actually been in the prison and then he had turned his life around entirely.”
“But when he got up, he was in the gig, he was heckled by his former cell mate which was one of the weirder starts to a gig.”
With a prison gig under his belt, the Offaly man obviously isn’t afraid to take on new challenges. Like his decision to part take in this years Dancing With the Stars. Neil and pro-dancer, Kylee Vincent were the second couple eliminated from this year’s DWTS.
For, what would be their final performance, the pair danced a lively and upbeat cha-cha-cha to the Ghostbusters theme song for movie week, which earned them 18 points from the judges. Giving feedback after their performance Arthur said, “That was so much fun” and Loraine, “I like it. You put yourself into it.”
Brian Redmond said, “Well there’s one thing strange in this neighbourhood and it’s that hip action. A little bit more subtlety and you probably would be there.”
Sharing his thoughts after being sent home on social media Neil said; “A bit disappointed to not be lacing my dancing shoes anymore to learn some new dances, would have liked to have learned maybe a tango.”
“Had a great time doing it, delighted with the scores – 22 for a Charleston? Get in!” Continuing he added, “Huge thanks to Kylee Vincent, a brilliant choreographer, teacher, dancer and indeed human.”
