Neighbours will no longer film in Dublin this month, ahead of its special 35th anniversary episode, due to Coronavirus fears.
Stars Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne, who play Karl and Susan Kennedy on the long-running soap, were set to be the focus of this Dublin-based storyline.
The Aussie soap had also organised a special Neighbours: Live in Conversation event in London on March 15th to mark 35 years since its launch.
However, this event has also been cancelled, as the COVID-19 threat persists.
A spokesperson for the show told Digital Spy: “Due to the current coronavirus situation and cautions around international travel, cast who were flying in from Australia will no longer be visiting the UK for the Neighbours 35th anniversary celebrations.
“Whilst this is obviously very disappointing, the wellbeing of all our cast and crew is our utmost priority.”
“Filming in Dublin with Alan and Jackie has therefore been cancelled for now. However, we love our UK and Irish audience and will definitely be back in the future.”
Prior to the filming being cancelled, a spokesperson for RTE revealed that actress Jackie Woodburne, who is originally from Co. Antrim, was “so delighted to bring cast and crew over to her side of the hemisphere.”
“An Irish generation have grown up watching and loving Neighbours and fans here have a very special relationship with it and its characters.”
