These should keep us busy!

Regardless of how good weekend tv has become over the past few weeks, thanks to Ryan, Ray and Graham, sometimes nothing beats getting out of the house for a few hours over a Saturday and Sunday.

Bearing this in mind, VIP has complied a list of some of the best things that are happening this weekend, and some of the best places to go.

OFFline Film Festival
Between now and Sunday, Co Offally is playing home to the the OFFline Film Festival which will see a range of quality films being screened in the midlands. There’ll be expert tips on filmmaking, workshops as well as movie screenings over the weekend – the perfect place for any movie buff.

Dublin Theatre Festival
The Dublin Theatre Festival finishes up this weekend after an 18 day stint in the capital. The festival incorporates music and theatre for a weekend’s worth of artist culture. This weekend see’s a number of shows happening around the city including Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa, The True Story of Hansel and Gretel, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the night-Time, which Colin Farrell just so happened to attend last night!

Kinsale Gourmet Festival
The 39th Kinsale Gourmet Festival is taking place this weekend and will be the best spot for any foodie lover in Co. Cork. Events over the few days will include a Cork Chowder Cook Off, a 5 course dining experience, the Mad Hatters Taste of Kindle and a Fruits de Mer luncheon. Some of the events over the weekend will see charity auctions happening in aid of Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk for cancer.

Smithfield and Stoneybatter Food Festival

This weekend Smithfield will bustling with action as a host of events are set to take place in the historic part of Dublin City. Each event will happen in the company’s own premises, whether it be the Jameson Visitor Centre, local cafes such as Third Space or one of the many fruit and veg markets in the area. There will be tastings and special menus available over the weekend, with some events being completely free but some with a small fee attached. Whether you fancy trying out some cocktails, gelato or new dinner menus, there’s something for everyone! Check out their website for the full of events in the area.
