Nathan Carter’s interview with the lead singer of Nashville-based group, The Willis Clan, has been pulled by RTÉ, after Toby Willis was arrested and charged with child rape.
The Irish country singer has been travelling around Ireland interviewing music acts in preparation for his upcoming autumn show on RTÉ One. Willis, the lead singer of The Willis Clan, who shot to stardom on America’s Got Talent, was one of the interviewees set to feature on Nathan’s show, but now the decision has been made to cut the interview entirely after Toby was arrested for allegedly raping an underage female 12 years ago.
The accused has 12 children with wife Brenda Willis, and she released a statement asking for privacy at this difficult time. “I was shocked and devastated by the revelation of events leading to Toby’s arrest,” she said.
“As these are very trying times for the Willis family, I kindly ask all to respect our family’s privacy. As a mother of 12, my first priority remains with my children.”
RTÉ released a statement explaining that they will no longer be including Toby’s interview on Nathan’s show and they are yet to decide which performers will make the final cut.
“The interview with Toby Willis will not be featuring on the show.” they said. “A number of performers were filmed for the series, but not all of them will make the final series. No decision has been made yet on what performances will make the final version of the series.”
