Nadine Coyle was a wedding singer for WHICH famous artist?

This is ironic.

She was out to impress!

In a strange turn of events, Nadine Coyle has revealed that when she first started out in the industry she was asked to sing at former Westlife star, Nicky Byrne’s wedding to Georgina Ahern back in 2003.

But nowadays, the Derry native is busy recording tracks with Nicky’s band mate, Shane Filan.

The pair were on the Ray D’Arcy show last night to promote their new single I Could Be, and the duo joked that her performance at Nicky’s wedding was somewhat of an audition of her duet with Shane.

“I sang at Nicky’s wedding. It was probably the most terrifying thing I’ve done in my whole life. It was in a chapel in the south of France and it was a Celine Dion song when they were doing their vows. It was terrifying. I will never forget it,” she said.

Shane then chimed in, “That’s why I picked her [for this], because she can sing a Celine Dion song! If you can sing a Celine Dion song, you’re a pretty good singer.”

And how did this situation of Nadine singing at the biggest wedding of the year, at the time, come about in the first place you ask? Good aul Louis Walsh of course!

“I couldn’t believe it. This guy from Westlife has called me up, I think Louis Walsh put us in touch. It was great!”

But unfortunately, Nadine, in another strong sense of irony, couldn’t remember if she was old enough to go to the reception of the wedding – much like the time on talent show, Popstars, when she couldn’t remember, or chose not to remember her age.

“I was. Oh wait, was I even 18 at the time?” she said, laughing.

Some things never change!
