Muireann O’Connell perfectly handled a troll her criticised her work on Twitter.
The Six O’Clock show host became a full-time presenter on Today FM in January.
While the vast majority of people were delighted to have more of Muireann on TV and radio, one troll couldn’t help but complain.
Taking to Twitter, a man named Declan took issue with the fact that the presenter was on TV in the evenings.
“Jesus Christ it’s bad enough to have to listen to u on the radio but to come home and have to see u on the Tv. Ffs,” he said.
Rather than be offended or hurt by the rude comment, Muireann decided to use it as an opportunity to teach Declan about free will.
“Can someone let Declan know he doesn’t have to do either of those things? It’s not North Korea, mate,” she said.
Fans and followers loved Muireann’s response and praised her in the comments.
“I think Dec’s tortured … wants to not want to watch & listen to you but cannot help himself …” Newstalk host Ciara Kelly said.
Newstalk’s Jess Kelly joked: “We’ll cover how to change the channel next time I’m on. It can be very confusing for people.”
Others sent Muireann support and complimented her on her skills.
“What the fudge….Muireann has loads of personality and is a breath of fresh air in a world of robots,” David Ryan said.
“Don’t mind him, if you were on tv/ radio 24 hours a day I’d be in Heaven,” another added.
