More bad news for Operation Transformation leader, John Conmy, as he has revealed his business Fun Bobby’s Bistro is in “tatters.”
The Co. Mayo native revealed today that his restaurant has been shut down, leaving 15 staff members unemployed, and a truly heartbroken owner.
John explained that he had accumulated a tax bill of €9,000, and this was the reason behind the closure.
The Operation Transformation star claims that he had a deal with Revenue of paying back €500 of his debt per week, but due to the upcoming election, “government need to get in as much revenue as possible,” and he “would have to pay the total tax bill in full that day.”
Taking to Facebook, he claimed that two men entered his premises in Belmullet while he was taking part on Ray D’Arcy’s radio show in Dublin, and “removed the till with money inside, removed stock and cutlery,” while “terrified staff” were inside.
“To say I am absolutely devastated is an understatement. I was so proud of Fun Bobby’s and so happy in Erris and now it’s all in tatters. Hope we get it all sorted,” he said.
This comes after his emotional appearance on last week’s edition of the RTE weight loss show, in which he broke down in tears after failing to meet his targets.
A Revenue spokesperson has refused to comment on the matter.
