Ryan Tubridy can sleep easy – RTE golden girl Miriam O’Callaghan has confirmed she has no desire to take over as a new host of the Late Late Show.
Much like the rest of the country, Miriam loves to tune into the RTE1 chat show each weekend, but would much rather watch from the comfort of her own home than present it.
“It’s an absolutely wonderful show, but no, I have no desire to present the Late Late. I love looking at it, and Ryan is doing a great job. It’s a superb show and I think it will be going long after we’ve all gone to another world,” she said this morning on Today FM.
Despite already presenting numerous shows on RTE, when asked if she’d interested in a more permanent position, Miriam insists she wouldn’t be.
The broadcaster has said that even if she wanted to, she’s too busy to commit to something as permanent as a spot on The Saturday Night Show or the Late Late Show. She’s back presenting her summer show Saturday Night with Miriam this weekend, has on-going commitments with Prime Time and more importantly, also has her children to take care of.
“I still have young children, and I’m working at the moment and out at least two nights a week. Children love you to be home in the evening time. That would mean that I would be out at the weekends. I’m not going to do that. As a mother, you make choices as well, and that’s a choice I would make,” she said.
