Despite being nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his role in Steve Jobs, Michael Fassbender’s latest movie was a complete flop in the box office – and the Kerryman thinks he knows why.
The film, which only earned €25m in the US Box Office, didn’t pull in as many cinema goers as expected, and Michael believes there are a number of reasons as to why it flopped.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, the actor said, “I’m not sure why people go see certain films over other films.
“A lot of the times in the cinema, it helps if it’s an event of some sort. You have to see that film at the cinema.
“There are a lot of options. People work very hard, long hours, come home and they have good home entertainment centres.”
Despite this being his second nomination for an Oscar, Michael admits that the excitement surrounding the whole situation never changes.
“It was a lot of fun last time. I was there with my family, my parents and my sisters. I got to meet a lot of idols and heroes.
“I don’t think it every changes, the excitement and being honoured like that. I’m still very excited and thrilled.”
We can’t wait to see how he does!
