Michael Fassbender reveals the extreme lengths he went to to get out of playing Steve Jobs

Michael Fassbender has revealed that he was so overwhelmed by the work playing Steve Jobs entailed that he went to extreme lengths to get out of playing the iconic character.

The Irish heartthrob is an award-winning actor, who has stared in some major movies including; 300, Hunger and more recently The Light Between Oceans -but it appears that none of his previous roles prepared him for the intense work it would take to become the notorious Steve Jobs.

The 39-year-old, who’s currently attending the Toronto International Film Festival, was asked which of his fims was the most difficult to make and without a a moment’s hesitation, he revealed that playing Steve Jobs was the toughest role he’s played to date. The award-winning actor admitted that he thought the script was too detailed and complex for his capabilities.

“It was so dense! It was such a mountain,” he told Vulture.

“I’m a slow learner, so when the script arrived for me and the opportunity came to play the part, I really thought, ‘This is not me. This should be somebody else. It’s a miscast scenario,'” he continued.

“But in rehearsals, I was trying to find a way to get out of the job. I remember telling my driver, ‘If I put my arm in the door, you should slam it. It should cause a break and it should get me out of this gig.’”

Luckily, Michael stuck to the role and ended up giving an outstanding performance of the complex character -he even managed to get an Oscar nomination for the role!
