A Met Eireann spokesperson said: “Another 25 to 32 mm of rainfall expected over 24 hours.” The alert was issued this morning and is set to remain in place until 9am tomorrow, as heavy rainfall shows no sign of stopping.
Most areas cloudy with spells of rain. The rain will be heavy and persistent – especially across the north and west with further spot flooding in places. While counties in the north west should expect heavy rain tonight, the south will experience a dry but cold night, with temperatures expected to drop to 2C.
The spokesperson added “Further heavy rain overnight – again especially over the north and west. Good dry spells over southern counties with clear spells.
“Lowest temperatures ranging from a cold 2 degrees during clear spells in the south to 7 or 8 in the north.”
