Mel Gibson has spoken about his fondness for Ireland, stating that it “feels like home” to him every time he visits. The Australian born actor said that he loved getting the chance to spend some time here while filming The Professor and the Madman recently.
Over the last number of weeks Mel was spotted climbing the Sugar Loaf, wandering the streets of Dublin’s south side and enjoying some food at FX Buckley steakhouse, during his downtime off set.
Although he has now returned to Los Angeles, the 60-year-old star has some nice words to say about our country.
Speaking to the Irish Sun Mel said, “I always love being back in Ireland. It feels like home. When this project came along I didn’t hesitate for a second.”
The Braveheart legend has close ties to the Emerald Isle, as it is his mothers ancestral home. The American epic war movie was also filmed her back in 1995.
We’re proud he thinks so highly of Ireland, you’re always welcome Mel!
