Meet the Irish mother-daughter duo whose bags we’ll all be wearing

Irish owned clothing brand Zingy Days originated in Co. Tipperary from creator Victoria Stoyanova and her mother.

The pair first launched into the fashion industry in 2022 when they released their first collection, ‘MELLOW WORLD’. The collection consisted of patterned tote bags and trendy mini over-the-shoulder bags made from high-quality, beautiful fabrics.

Since then, Zingy Days has launched many new items such as animal print off-the-shoulder bags and embroidered mini clutches. We have seen Zingy Days work alongside in promotional posts with other Irish brands such as Ditsy Bits and Kittenish Knits.

Most recently, we saw the brand achieve a major goal of having their latest ‘Éire’ collection fully sell out within twenty four hours!

Although Zingy Days may seem like an overnight success, the pair have been working on design inspiration for years.

When asked what was the lightbulb moment for the duo to take a step into the fashion industry Victoria told VIP Magazine: “We both enjoy capturing art, whether it’s photography, sketching a design or compiling a scrapbook/ Pinterest board of colours/symbols/objects/movies/ that have inspired us over the months into a campaign for our next design collection. Once COVID hit and time froze so did our jobs, we had time to start making some of those design ideas we had been collecting over the years!”

It’s not every day that you see a mother-daughter duo in the fashion industry, or any industry for that matter.

When asked if the pair found it to be a difficult transition to shift their relationship from family to business partner, Victoria replied: “Since her early 20s, my mother has been a designer, and I’ve always inspired to follow in her footsteps. She has crafted stunning communion dresses for children and bespoke wedding gowns. Throughout my childhood, she handmade nearly all of my dresses.

“We share a close bond, one that was especially important as we both arrived in Ireland when I was just three years old, with no knowledge of English. She played a pivotal role in shaping my understanding of the world and provided me with countless opportunities. As a result, I deeply value her thoughts and opinions.

“We understand one another. I think we each have our strengths that we lean on and have found the perfect balance to divide and conquer some sections of running a brand. Both of us collaborate on the design aspect of hand sewing and making our pieces and we come up with the campaign launches throughout the seasons.

“However, when it comes to finances and accounts, that is her forté as she has many years of accountancy experience (thank God). I enjoy the marketing, social media, web design and events side!”

Zingy Days is not your traditional brand. The pair love to use bold colours, designs and fabrics uniquely handcrafted into rare, once-in-a-lifetime pieces of art.

When asked what Victoria felt made Zingy Days different from other brands on the market, she replied: “We try to embody and create truly timeless pieces with a modern luxury twist. The essence of the word “Zingy” means to be striking – so that is what we try to do in each one of our collection drops. We’ve had a lot of feedback from customers that once they wear one of our bags, it makes them feel like they are making a statement with their outfits, and they feel like the ultimate cool girl!

“We try to show potential customers something they haven’t seen before in their modern fast fashion retailers and also showcase the slow fashion approach we are taking to making these products based out of our studio.”

Speaking of fast fashion, sustainability is the main thing for the majority of consumers right now, but how exactly does Zingy Days contribute to slow fashion?

“We began producing handbags with fabrics we had pre-owned. We then found a supplier who has a smaller supply of unique fabrics, which is why our collection drops are usually limited drops, and when they’re gone, they’re gone,” she explained.

“We try to repurpose and not waste any fabric. We are a slow fashion brand hoping to expand our team in 2025 to have more seamstresses to help with our production.”

When they’re gone they really are gone as we saw with Zingy Days’ most recent ‘Éire’ collection completely selling out within its first 24 hours! This collection stepped out of Zingy Days’ traditional style and explored Irish culture using different Celtic and Irish symbols within their designs.

Victoria told us where the pair’s inspiration for the collection came from: “Coming up to St. Patrick’s Day, we knew we wanted to create a collection that drew inspiration from the Irish culture. We took inspiration from Celtic symbols such as the the triquetra, also known as an Irish Trinity Knot

“In the Boyne Valley, Ireland, the Triskele symbolizes the ancient Irish Celtic traditions. It is present on the famous Newgrange tomb. The Triskele’s presence in this region represents the enduring cultural legacy and the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. The Irish harp, the classic Irish instrument as well as the Irish shamrock as a tribute to Saint Patrick himself.”

For those of us who didn’t get a chance to get our hands on the ‘Éire’ collection, we’re all dying to know will there be a restock of the bags soon?

“We were blown away by the response our Éire collection received. It reached over 3,000 on-site sessions once launched and gained 30,000 TikTok views when we first announced the collection with our promo video, so we knew the demand was there!”

“Yes, the Éire bags will be back in stock in April with a small surprise.” Such exciting news!

Of course, with a brand that has such unique, bespoke pieces and that is growing in success with each collection launch we’re highly intrigued to know what’s next for Zingy Days?

“Expect to see a lot more festival fashion from Zingy Days coming into summer! We have some new concept designs for festival clothing outfits and cross body bags and who knows, some might have elements of Irish culture in the design too!” Festival season could not come any sooner!
