It was heartbreak at the final hurdle for Maura Higgins as she narrowly missed out on victory in the explosive finale of The Traitors US.
The former Love Island star made it all the way to the final as a Faithful, standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow Faithfuls Mark Ballas, Johnny Weir, and Tara Lipinski, alongside Traitors Eric Nam and Rob Rausch.
But in true Traitors fashion, the dramatic final episode saw banishments flying left, right and centre, with Rob even turning on his fellow Traitor Eric in a ruthless bid to secure the win.
In the end, it all came down to Rob and Maura.
After forming a close friendship throughout the competition, Maura was convinced they were both Faithfuls and would be splitting the $220,800 prize fund.
However, in a jaw-dropping moment, Rob delivered the ultimate betrayal.
“I am and I always have been a Traitor. I am so sorry, I am a Traitor. I’m serious,” he confessed.
A visibly stunned Maura replied: “Oh my God, I’m so stupid. I was so fooled by you.”
She didn’t hold back, adding: “You absolute a**hole. You pinky promised. You’re a piece of work. I was so convinced. You’ve embarrassed me.”

Host Alan Cumming later hailed Rob as “one of the best Traitors we’ve had thus far”, as he claimed the full prize pot for himself.
Speaking after his win, Rob admitted it was “bittersweet”, saying he felt bad for Maura and Eric, but ultimately had to play with his head, not his heart.
Meanwhile, viewers were quick to rally behind Maura on social media following the dramatic scenes.
“I knew Rob was gonna win but MAN I FEEL BAD FOR MAURA,” one fan wrote.
And honestly? Same.
