She mightn’t have won the show, but Maura Higgins won the hearts of viewers across Ireland and the UK throughout her time on Love Island 2019.

The Longford lady, who was coupled up with pro-dancer Curtis Pritchard, came in fourth place last night, before Irishman Greg O’Shea was crowned winner, alongside Amber Gill.

Following her antics in the villa over the last few weeks, viewers have hailed Maura as the ‘greatest Islander of all time’, and will miss her now that it’s over.

The 28-year-old amassed an incredible 1.5million followers on social media over the last few weeks – with plenty of famous faces in the mix.

Hollywood stars Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham have voiced their adoration for Maura, while former Love Island contests Dani Dyer and Eyal Booker also backed the Irish model.

Eyal told us; “I think she’s gone in there from the start and really won the nation over.

“I think she empowers women everywhere. She’s a strong, bold, independent woman who I think portrays a very current, 21st-century female, who uses their voice more than ever.”

Maura’s mum recently told VIP Magazine that the model has been true to herself since the very first day she entered the villa, and feels this is what won the public over, throughout her time on the show.

“What you see is what you get with Maura,” she exclusively told VIP Magazine. “Straight and to the point.”

Watch this space – we expect big things from Ms Maura Higgins!
