Maura Higgins made the move to London last year after her stint on Love Island. Since lockdown began in both the UK and Ireland people have been unable to travel back and forth to visit family and friends.
For Irish gal, Maura this has been difficult as she’s so close to her Mammy and her family.
Yesterday she shared some cute snaps and videos as she flew home to surprise her niece on her birthday.
Her video showed her niece coming into the kitchen as Maura was hiding inside. It was adorable to see how excited her niece was when she spotted her as she shouted “Maura!”
In a recent interview, Maura opened up about how hard she found adjusting to life after the villa, and it seems her family were a big part of making feel a little bit more normal.
Once contestants leave the villa it can be a gruelling few weeks as they work on collaborations with brands, photoshoots as well as going on TV again for interviews. For Maura, this all became too much and she had to switch off for a while.
“I was working so so hard and I remember I started getting anxiety and everything just from pure exhaustion.
“The best thing I did was, I took a step back. I just said, ‘do you know what I’m having a few days off. I’m going back to Ireland, spending time with with my family.”
“And that is the best thing I did. I think you need to listen to your body and your mental health is so so important and if you need to take a step back, do it.”

Maura is back in the spotlight again as her 34 piece make-up collection has just launched with beauty brand, Inglot.
Already the response online has been huge and it seems Maura’s Mammy is just as excited about the collection as we are with Maura saying she still can’t get her head around her daughter’s fame;
“And even with part one of the makeup being revealed the other day, she sent me a voice note and she was just screaming down the phone with excitement. She was like, ‘Oh my God it’s happening’.
“She drives my head mad at times. She sends me so much stuff and I’m like, ‘Mammy you don’t need to send that to me, I know.’
“But she’s obviously just so proud and it’s just the cutest thing ever.”
