After weeks of rumours Dancing With the Stars’ duo Matthew MacNabb and Laura Nolan have revealed their relationship status.
Rumours of their romance kicked into overdrive last weekend after DWTS judges Arthur Gourounlian and Brian Redmond both made comments hinting at a romance between the pair during Sunday’s show. While reviewing their dance, Arthur said, “The chemistry between you two is flowing. Ooh la la! The song was called Anything For You, but I think you two are perfect for each other.”
While Brian claimed, “You certainly look like a happier boy this week. I’m not sure whether it’s the smell of those spring flowers or something else.”
But it seems those comments weren’t entirely accurate as Matt confirmed to The Irish Sun, that he and Laura weren’t together. Saying, “No, no, no. I met my new partner because I was doing DWTS, but I’d rather not say anything else as it’s still early days.”
The Down man kept things quiet, declining to reveal if he had introduced his new girlfriend to Laura. But, he did share that he and his mystery women enjoy private dinners together at his apartment.
While he and Laura aren’t romantically involved, they are very close friends and give each other romantic advice. The former Love Islander revealed, “I think me and Laura are of the same mindset, focused on our careers and what we want to do.”
“The other things will fall into place. I wouldn’t say I was her shoulder to cry on but I know a lot about being single and told Laura do whatever is right for you.”
Pointing out how the dating landscape in Ireland has changed, he added that there is less pressure and no need to rush. As he explained, “modern Ireland is different from the old days. It’s a lot more fluid. You don’t have to rush into things, get married and have babies by age 25.”
“These days there are so many things to do, so many people to meet. Right now the two of us are concentrating on the show.”
The romance rumours started after Matthew confirmed in an interview that he was seeing someone he met through the show. Speaking to the Irish Mail On Sunday, he said, “I’ve been dating a few weeks now. It’s early days, so I want to keep it relatively quiet. But she does live in Dublin.”
“She is well known – we met through the show,” he continued.
But before his interview, Laura also confirmed she was seeing someone, so naturally, people assumed they were together. But if that’s not the case, who is Matthews mystery lady?
Well, according to rugby star and fellow DWTS contestant Jordan Conroy it’s very obvious who Matthew is seeing. He told RSVP Live, “I think it’s quite obvious, he’s dropping way too many hints and them hints are very obvious.”
“I’ll let him reveal that but definitely if you put two and two together you should be able to get the answer.”
