Matt Damon has shared his love for Dalkey, revealing it’s one of the it’s one of the best places he’s ever been.
The acclaimed actor arrived on Irish soil in early March to shoot a new movie, but Covid19 struck and the country went into lockdown.
Matt decided to stay here with his wife and youngest kids, while his eldest remained in college in the US.
While here, Matt admits he’s fallen in love with the picturesque town of Dalkey – and the people who live in the area.
Speaking on Spin 103.8, he said, “It’s incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been.
“It’s absolutely gorgeous. Even in lockdown when you’ve got to stay within 2km of your house, there are trees and forests, woods and ocean. I can’t think of anywhere you’d rather be in a 2km radius of.”
He continued, “It’s blooming. I thought it was incredible two months ago, but it feels a little bit like a fairytale here.
“Obviously what’s going on in the world is horrible, but I’m with my whole family; I’ve got my kids and we have a teacher with us because we were planning on missing school for about eight weeks. We’ve got this incredible set-up in this place.”
Matt reveals he’s in no rush to leave the Emerald Isle, even when lockdown lifts.
“We still have this movie to make. I’ve got eight weeks of shooting to look forward to. I have at least a few more months here. This would not be a bad place to wind up though.”
