Mary Kennedy has shared her absolute delight, as she revealed her grandchild is due in a matter of days.
Her daughter Eva, who is already mum to little Paddy, is expecting her second child this month, and Mary can’t wait to for the little bundle of joy to make his or her appearance.
“He is 19 months and he is going to be a big brother in about two weeks time. Eva is due to have another baby at the end of the month,” she told TVNow Magazine.
The broadcaster has spent a huge amount of time with her grandchild over the last number of weeks as Eva returned to work.
Mary’s other daughter Lucy, who lives at home, has been minding the tot and they’ve savoured every minute with the youngster.
“We miss them here because she was back teaching in Dublin from September until mid term and then she went on maternity leave,” she said.
“My other daughter Lucy was Paddy’s official child minder, because she is at home, so now we are just waiting for the news.”
It’s been a very exciting few weeks for the family, as Mary’s son Eoin announced his engagement earlier this year.
Eoin asked his long-term love Nicola Farrell to marry him in September, and went all out to make the moment as special as possible.
In a very romantic gesture, he covered the house with flowers while she was out, and upon her return, got down on one knee.
Speaking about the special moment, proud mum Mary told Ireland AM viewers: “When Nicola came home from work she could see the rose petals and flowers and she burst out crying.
“He was there in the living room saying, ‘Nicola, will you come in?’ Eoin did a lovely job with the decorations and the flowers.”
At the time of the engagement, Mary shared a lovely snap with Eoin and Nicola and said, “Such happy news. We are all delighted for you. Two loving, funny, kind, hardworking young people. Welcome to the clan Nicola.”
