Many of us are taking advantage of what Ireland has to offer as we staycation this year, and Mary Kennedy has been doing just that with her partner Tom.
Speaking on The Six O’Clock show, Mary spoke about her love for Ireland, and she also opened up about her staycation with partner Tom and how he deals with the limelight.
Mary explained: “I just love Ireland and it’s funny when people say to you, ‘Gosh I went down to Kerry and I discovered somewhere’, and I’m like, ‘I covered that on Nationwide’.
“You have been everywhere with Nationwide there isn’t a part of the country that I don’t know. But I have to say for Tom there were parts of Ireland that he wasn’t familiar with so it was lovely to bring him to those kinds of places.
“We had a lovely few days up in Donegal. We were down in Kilkenny in Mount Juliet and the weekend just gone by we were down in Waterford.”
Continuing, Mary shared the fact that Tom does not like being in the public eye. “No he doesn’t and that’s fine and I was the same with my children when they were small and the same with my little grandson now. No, they’re not in the limelight, people are private people and that’s fine.”
Mary and Tom have been together for a year and a half, explaining how they met, Mary shared, “we were introduced by a mutual friend just before Christmas last year so nearly 18 months now so it must be going okay.
“Yeah he’s lovely, very kind, very gentle and good fun.”
