A woman of many talents, Mary Kennedy has just released a charity single with her sister Deirdre.
The pair worked together on a brand new track, penned specifically for Mary by close friend Don Mescall.
“This song came about because Don was sitting at home with his mother in Limerick watching myself and John perform a waltz [on Dancing with the Stars],” she said on Ireland AM.
“He wrote this song ‘Life is a Beautiful Dance’ as a gift for me. It was just so lovely to receive it. Then he asked a hard question, which was ‘Will you record it?’ Eventually I said I would do it with Deirdre, who is my sister and a lovely singer. We share it. It’s half and half.”

They decided to release the single in aid of Family Carers Ireland, a charity close to their hearts.
The organisation offers assistance and guidance to those who look after their loved ones at home.
“I have huge admiration for the work that they do. This is a lovely opportunity to raise awareness and money,” she said.
“As Irish people, we have a gene for caring, we really do. It is part of our DNA. The people who do it in their own home for loved ones, are heroes. They deserve all the support that we can give them.”
Money raised from the single will go towards the cause, and you can also donate €4 by texting FAMILYCARERS to 50300.
