Martin King has revealed he recently had five stents inserted to an artery in his heart, which was almost 90 per cent blocked.
The Virgin Media star was away from the Six O’Clock Show for a number of weeks as he got them implanted and recovered from the procedure.
Well on the road to recovery, Martin returned to his spot on couch to speak about his experience.
“I had a little bit of a scare just before Christmas and had it checked but it turned out to be bad indigestion,” he said on the show.
“But from that they wanted me to do a stress test and they did and they discovered that there were a few electrical and plumbing problems.
“So over the last three or four weeks, I’ve had five stents put in because one of the arteries in the back of my heart was almost 90 per cent blocked.”
Martin revealed he was surprised by the diagnosis as he’d consider himself to be quite a healthy man.
“I’m active and I go to the gym, but if it’s in your genes it’s in your genes,” he mused.
“I’ve avoided what could have been quite a bit of surgery. The doctor told me I don’t need to see you for a long time.”
