Mark Cagney has bid an emotional goodbye to Ireland AM after 20 years on the show.
The presenter, who first started working there in 1999, filmed his final episode this morning, alongside his beloved friends and colleagues.
Mark was joined by show regulars Karen Koster, Alan Hughes – as well as Ciara Doherty, who came back from maternity leave for the special occasion.
As the show came to a close, the entire cast and crew gathered around, as a teary-eyed Mark was presented with Bono’s guitar as a gift.
Taking to social media in their droves, viewers revealed how much they’ll miss the presenter.
Seeing my Mam so emotional watching @IrelandAMVMTV and Mark Cagney leaving is pretty outstanding. He has been a part of our home every morning as background noise for as long as I can remember. I’ll miss his kind and caring voice and no doubt Mam will miss him more. Le Grá

What an emotional goodbye to #markcagney on #irelandam. That programme has been a major part of life for the last 20 years…my distraction in the chemo waiting room been the main part … tried to help me forget what I was about to go through..legend at his job

Delighted to see Mark Cagney getting the send-off he deserves on @IrelandAMVMTV – one of THE nicest and most decent people I’ve ever met in meeja. The best of eggs

This absolute gent is presenting his final @IrelandAMVMTV this morning.
I like so many have nothing but respect and admiration for him. He’s genuinely “one of the good guys”. I feel lucky to have spent some studio time with a total pro #IrelandAM #MarkCagney pic.twitter.com/LZ0XfQK71I

Presenter and broadcaster Sile Seoige also paid tribute to Mark, thanking him for everything he has done over the last number of years.
She said, “Wishing Mark all the very best going forward. Whenever I was on the Ireland AM couch he always made me feel welcome and relaxed.
“I’m bawling now. So much love and respect for Mark from all the team and viewers of Ireland AM.
“Regardless of your hugely successful 20-year career on breakfast telly, you are clearly a gorgeous human. Stand tall Mark. Beautiful sign-off.”
We wish Mark the very best of luck in the future. He’ll certainly be missed!
